Ever wondered why the number of people living with disabilities is dramatically increasing globally? Around 15 percent of the world’s population, or an estimated 1 billion people, live with disabilities according to the World Health Organization and they constitute the world’s largest minority group. There are persons with disabilities in all parts of the world and at all levels in every society. The number of disabled persons in the world is large and is growing, and India as one of the world’s nation is not left out. People with disabilities are often discriminated against universally. To ensure her disabled population is well catered for, the Indian government enacted the Rights of People with Disabilities (RPwD) Act in 2016.
